Shuray Ghorishi

Senior Managing Attorney

Pronouns: she/her/hers

Shuray Ghorishi , Esq

Shuray has been practicing in the field of litigation at the trial and appellate level since January 2010. Before joining FVAP, she managed the Legal Services department at a domestic violence shelter, La Casa De Las Madres, where her practice focused on domestic violence law, family law, immigration law, and victims’ rights in criminal matters. In that position, Shuray observed first-hand the need for survivors to have access to competent counsel throughout the appellate process, and she joined FVAP in 2014 to help guide and empower survivors in defending their rights in civil appeals.

Prior to her work at La Casa, Shuray was an associate at Stoel Rives, LLP and Wolfe Wyman, LLP, where her practice focused on the areas of financial services, real estate, environmental, construction, and complex commercial litigation. At these firms, she worked on many pro bono matters, including representing survivors of domestic violence in restraining order cases and family law matters. In 2011, she received a Pro Bono Service Award from Stoel Rives, LLP.

October 2023

Shuray Ghorishi has been appointed to the Committee on Appellate Courts at the California Lawyers Association (CLA). This committee is influential in shaping appellate court practices. As a member of the committee, Shuray will bring her expertise in working with indigent litigants and gender-abuse survivors to the forefront of committee projects, contribute to the development of quality continuing education programs, provide valuable insights and commentary on proposed rule changes, and actively support pro bono appellate practice for the State. Ghorishi’s appointment reflects her dedication to promoting access to justice for survivors of domestic violence and her commitment to making a positive impact within the legal community representing survivors.
