Survivor Requesting Representation

FVAP represents survivors of domestic violence and other forms of gender-based violence in California appeal (challenge) family or civil court orders for free. This means if you get an order from one of these courts that you disagree with, we can review the order and let you know if we can help you appeal it.

Can FVAP Help Me?

  1. I have experienced domestic violence, intimate partner abuse, sexual assault, elder abuse, human trafficking or stalking.
  2. I have a family court or civil court order I want to appeal, or I am defending against an appeal.
  3. The order I want to appeal was issued by a California court, and is less than 6 months old.

Do you meet all three requirements?

  • Yes
    • California Family Law
    • California Housing
No, but I still need help

Attorney or Advocate Requesting Assistance

FVAP provides technical legal assistance to advocates and attorneys helping survivors with civil legal issues. This means FVAP can give attorneys and advocates tailored information and resources to help them represent or help their survivor clients navigate legal issues pertaining to DVROs, child custody and visitation, housing, support and other family and civil law matters. If you are an attorney or advocate and would like assistance helping your survivor client with a legal issue, fill out this form.
